New York began the Autumn/ Winter 2016 fashion week season presenting beauty looks that exemplified the street style inspired vibe of the designers. The 1990’s, goth-punk, and the roaring twenties were all references for the most buzz worthy beauty looks. Here are some of the best from the New York shows.
Back in New York full-time, Alexander Wang presented a 1990’s punk inspired collection for his namesake brand. Guido Palau featured a hair looks, a cut above the rest, cropped and colored in manic panic tones. New comer, Katie Moore chopped her blonde waist length hair for the show, giving her a new standout tomato fringed- bob for the season. Guido said the makeover “will give her a new idea of herself, that’s what’s inspiring about change and that is what this show is about in terms of beauty. ” Dianne Kendall gave each mode a minimal makeup look inspired by youth culture’s adoption of high fashion. The trend of the mini fringe is here to stay for fall, the severe gender fluid hair cuts, and high octane dye jobs are all about the individuality of each girl.
Puma X Rihanna:
Super star Rihanna presented her first Fenty collection for Puma featuring subversive street wear looks. Pat McGrath perfectly painted goth inspired black lip stole the show and is sure to be a beauty trend for fall. Rihanna’s own hair stylist Yusef Williams created an icy slicked back look with white clay.
Design Duo Dai- YI Chao and Maxwell Osborne made a mark for their second season at DKNY. Eugene Souleiman created a 1990’s inspired look using pony tails, hair closures to create a graphic easiness. Makeup artist Yadim, channeled minimalism, accentuating the youthful glow of the models.
Marc Jacobs triumphant fall collection closed the New York shows with a punk-meets-flapper beauty look. The dramatic goth inspired collection mixed luxe layers of black, teetering on sky-high victorian lace-up platform boots.The beauty look made waves featuring the classic style from the roaring twenties. Makeup by master Francois Nars created 6 makeup looks inspired by 1980’s punk, ranging from a winged cat-eye, the super coal smudged eye, and the graphic lined eye, with black lined- lips. Superstar, Lady Gaga surprised guests as she walked the show for her friend Marc Jacobs.
